On May 11, we are pleased to return to the Mod Coffeehouse in Galveston, TX - and a walk along the beach..
In March, we finally stopped rolling for awhile, got the car all fixed up, and escaped Austin's SXSW crowds to spend time in San Antonio. We worked on some new songs of our own, along with a cover of Woody Guthrie's "Deportees."
We drove up the coast from L.A. and then back down again - playing in Monterey, Morro Bay, Paso Robles, and San Luis Obispo. In Altadena on January 20th, we played the final set of our eight-month, 30-performance western tour.
In Taos, we rested awhile and worked on new music.
Now we are happy to be back in Central Texas, where we're planning to stay until the end of May.
We spent the winter of 2017 working on songs, and in the Spring we recorded our second album. We thorougly enjoyed working with Charlie Kramsky and Jon Neiss at Austin Signal Studios, and playing with these fine musicians: Ollin Chavez, Marjorie Gonzales Chavez, Fred Mandujano, and Nathan Cook.
In June, we took "The Lonesome American" on the road and played 24 shows in six Western states. Here are some favorite memories from the 17 cities we visited:
Playing again at Kate and Billy's show at one of our favorite venues - the Adobe Bar in Taos, New Mexico
A great listening audience at the Guitar Merchant in Canoga Park, California
In Boise, Idaho, a warm reception by everyone at the Record Exchange and the Hermit Music Festival
A house concert and successful charity benefit in Seattle, Washington
In Portland, Oregon, playing at Ronnie Carrier's Driftin' Inn at the White Eagle and at the Waypost with the Josh Cole's bluegrass band, Tenbrook
The fine welcome and wonderful support of the folks at the Rite Spot in San Francisco
We're starting 2018 with ... more music. In mid-January, we'll play in seven venues from Monterey to Altadena, and then head to Taos for a few weeks' rest before we return to Austin.
October was a busy month, with a performance at the White Eagle in Portland and a drive back to Washington to play at the Black Dog in Snoqualmie. Then we crossed the Columbia River again to play at the Coffee Cottage in Newberg.
We stayed awhile at Cannon Beach, and then were off to California.
We've played at Streetlight Records in Santa Cruz and Simple Pleasures Cafe in San Francisco, with more Bay Area adventures planned for November and December.
In Boise Idaho, we played an in-store show at the Record Exchange and on Sept. 2nd at the Hermit Music Festival.
Then, it was on to Seattle to perform at C&P Coffee Company, Tim's Tavern, and a house concert. On Sept. 30th, we played at the Waypost in Portland, where we were joined by Tenbrook - Josh, Josh, Rachel, and Kip, playing good traditional bluegrass.
